TalkBX Moving! 11/21/2007

Hello Folks..

Lately I’m sure you notice the site has been unavailable and you receive an error when trying to access certain portions. We are aware of the problems and are going to correct them tonight.

We are moving TBX tonight. We are moving to a more stable hosting company with faster throughput connections as well.

So if you arent already started with your thanksgiving weekend; then get started so you dont notice the move 0

The transition will be seamless and when you log back in you will be on the new server.

If you try to visit the site and you receive error message there are a few things you should try as you DNS might be stale.

  1. Flush your DNS
  2. Ping talkbx.com
    1. To use Ping, open an MS DOS window, and type ‘ping talkbx.com’ (without the quotes) and press [ENTER]. You should see something that looks similar to the following:
      1. Reply from 74.86.186.2: bytes=32 time=140ms TTL=244
        Reply from 74.86.186.2: bytes=32 time=160ms TTL=244
        Reply from 74.86.186.2: bytes=32 time=155ms TTL=244
        Reply from 74.86.186.2: bytes=32 time=145ms TTL=244
    2. If the reply comes from address 69.89.27.211, then DNS has not updated through your ISP yet and you will have to wait. This can usually take up to 24 hours.

Other than that ..

We will see you when we are bigger, stronger and more stable!

Thanks for understading.. and for those starting their vacations already!

Have a Happy Thanks Giving!

TalkBX Team :)

Federal Agent Kills Suspect In Bronx

Federal Agent Kills Suspect In Bronx
?November 21, 2007

A suspected explosives dealer was shot and killed during an undercover operation in the Bronx Tuesday night.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms say they were trying to buy a grenade from a man Tuesday night in Mott Haven.

When agents tried to arrest him, the suspect threatened to pull the pin on the grenade. The man then tried to drive off, dragging an agent with his car. The agent fired once, striking the man in the head.

“We attempted, because of public safety to make the arrest of this individual. He resisted arrest, had the hand grenade,? said ATF Special Agent in Charge William McMahon. ?A shot was fired by an ATF agent, striking the individual.”

“I’m just shocked to see this happen in my neighborhood, so close to home,? said nearby resident Benjamin Gibson. ?I thought this only happened in Iraq or something, not around the corner.”

The bomb squad was called in to secure the area. The ATF agent and an NYPD detective were taken to the hospital.

Bronx, Staten Island Stores Sold Children’s Jewelry Containing Lead

November 21, 2007

Half a million pieces of children’s jewelry are being pulled from the shelves because they contain lead.

The bracelets, necklace, pins and earrings were sold at two stores in the city ? Michaels Craft Supply on Staten Island and the Grand 99 Cent Store in the Bronx.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission was alerted about the toxic toys by State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office. Cuomo says some of the 35 products his office investigated had as much as 1,000 times the amount of lead allowed.

Most of the jewelry was made in China and was sold in stores across the nation.

For a list of the recalled products, go to www.cpsc.gov.
