Police are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted bank robbery in the Bronx.
A man went into the Chase Bank on 149th Street Tuesday morning and demanded money from the bank teller, police said. The suspect, however, ran away on foot, without any cash.
Bronx Residents Screaming “NYPD Stop these Robberies!”
A spate of robberies in the West Bronx has one group of residents saying the New York City Police Department has little control over their neighborhood. The crime victims are Mexican immigrants –and they say local gang members target them because they carry cash. WNYC’s Marianne McCune has the story from the Fordham section of the Bronx.

REPORTER: It happened, Monsignor John Jenik says, just one week after the church dared to unlock its front doors – they’d been bolted for years for fear the dealers WOULD find their way in.

7 Arrested in Craigslist Porsche Scam on Long Island
Craigslist Crank Ring Nabbed By Officials
A group of teenagers, led by a 17-year-old Queens girl, has been arrested on charges that they posted online ads for cheap Porsches in order to rob cash-carrying buyers, Nassau police said Wednesday.
“We’re very proud of our ability to crack cases that take quite a bit of technical expertise,” said police commissioner Lawrence Mulvey at a news conference in Mineola Wednesday.
The group’s ringleader was high schooler Agniesika Banach, 17, of 5970 57th Rd., Maspeth, who cut and pasted together at least three fake ads on Craigslist selling late-model Porsches, said Det. Lt. Karl Schoepp.
Reached at their home, Banach’s father declined to comment. Her attorney, Mayra Velez-Camacho, of Maspeth, said she could not comment.
Eagle Academy remained unbeaten last Friday with a 77-75 victory over Gompers that came down to the final shot - a three-point attempt by Gompers’ Charles Brown that clanged off the back rim and bounced away as time expired.
“We pulled the game out,” said Eagle Academy coach Rodney Plummer. “I felt that they didn’t have enough time to advance the ball without a long pass. I felt we were OK, unless they hit a Hail Mary shot.”
Leading the way with a game-high 24 points, senior Antoine Gattling hit the front end of a one-and-one to give the Eagles a two-point lead with nine seconds remaining. Brown collected the rebound on the ensuing miss and dribbled the length of the floor, pulling up and missing from the left wing.
