The Yale Club in New York is supposed to be a posh haven in the city for alumni of the respected Ivy League. Instead, complain some members, the club is being overrun by outsiders and worst of all many of these outsiders come from the Bronx.
The New York Post is reporting that lately the club has hosted a rash of weddings and one member insists the weddings primarily seem to involve people from the Bronx. Clearly, this is unacceptable. Furthermore, there have been so many nonmembers using the club that members have trouble getting rooms, using the gym or swimming. Not without having to run into these Bronxites outsiders.
This boom may not be good for the old Yalies but it is good for business… except that now the IRS is involved:

Dirt, home plate, and ghosts moved to new Yankee Stadium

Jason Decrow / APOn a rainy Saturday a group of young Bronx residents and former Yankee stars dug out home plate and the pitching rubber at Yankee Stadium.A group of Bronx youths along with Scott Brosius, Paul O’Neill, David Cone, and Jeff Nelson filled buckets with stadium dirt from the pitcher’s mound and the home plate area.

The dirt was then taken across the street to the new Yankee Stadium and mixed into the existing dirt around home and the mound.

Bronx River Parkway mid-day closing S/B in Scarsdale today

Mid-day traffic will be diverted from a section of the Bronx River Parkway this week week as workers re-apply a protective surface to the median barrier and carry out other work, the county announced.

The southbound lanes between Crane Road at Exit 12 in Scarsdale and Harney Road at Exit 10 in Eastchester will close from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and Thursday. The northbound lanes along the same section will close during the same hours tomorrow and Wednesday. Read more..

The Bronx Boils Over

Bronx Democrats were buzzing this weekend about a verbal altercation between embattled party boss Jose Rivera and his formerally, election law attorney Stanley Schlein, that took place at the tony El San Juan bar on the first night of Somos el Futuro.

According to several witnesses, Rivera “got emotional” when he saw Schlein talking to Senator-elect Pedro Espada Jr., pointed his finger at the attorney and said: “You better watch yourself in Puerto Rico.”

Rivera, speaking in a raised voice in both English and Spanish, also reportedly called Schlein a “rat.” Read more..
