World Series Start May Be Delayed by Rain as Storm Moves North

The first game of Major League Baseball’s World Series between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies may be delayed by rain forecast for New York City tomorrow night.

A storm will head northeast from the Gulf of Mexico today, bringing drenching rain to the mid-Atlantic tonight and tomorrow, said AccuWeather.com, a private forecaster based in State College, Pennsylvania. The system may slow down before heading out to sea, which would prolong the showers for the first game, scheduled to start at 7:57 p.m. at Yankee Stadium.

AccuWeather game-time forecast calls for clouds and light rain in the Bronx, with temperatures about 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius) and east winds of as much as 12 mph (19 kph). The National Weather Service predicts a chance of showers, mostly before 10 p.m., low temperatures of about 46 degrees and northeast winds of as much as 15 mph.
