Wrist slap in Rikers fight slay

The mom of a teen Rikers Island inmate killed in a fight club run by prison guards said the wrist-slap sentences they received yesterday were cold comfort.

“I’m not happy. It’s not a win for me. My son is gone,” Charnel Robinson, 38, said in Bronx Supreme Court, during the sentencing of disgraced former Correction Officers Michael McKie and Khalid Nelson for their role in the death of Christopher Robinson, 18.

Robinson was beaten to death in October 2008 by fellow inmates for refusing to participate in the jailhouse blood sport.

“At the end of the day, these people are still able to see their families. My only child is a sight I’ll never see again,” the distraught mom said.

McKie was sentenced to two years in prison for assault in the first degree, affirming a plea bargain he cut in October. Nelson got one year for attempted assault in the first degree.
