New housing in Kingsbridge Heights helps veterans feel “grounded”

 

Last year on Veterans Day, Tina Vasquez was living in a Queens homeless shelter.

The Bronx native, 54, recently moved into Kingsbridge Terrace, a supportive housing residence in Kingsbridge Heights that celebrated its grand opening Thursday.

“I love it,” said the thin, energetic woman with dancing eyes and bright auburn hair. “I can cook. I can have family visit. I can walk around in my birthday suit if I want to.
