Athletic Director Marion Deitrich and two unnamed coaches suspended in wake of violent hazing attack that led to arrest of 3 teens charged with forcible touching, endangering an incompetent person and hazing a fellow student on school grounds.
Three students at the Bronx High School of Science have been arrested in connection with alleged hazing on the track team.
Education Department officials have suspended an athletic director and two track coaches in the wake of a hazing scandal that has rocked one of the city’s top schools.
The action comes as police and school officials probe hazing allegations at Bronx High School of Science that led to the arrest of three student athletes on Wednesday.
The teens were taken into custody Wednesday and charged with forcible touching, endangering an incompetent person and hazing - all taking place on school grounds.
Bronx Science Wolverines Thomas Brady, Boubacar Diallo and Piers Berkmans had bullied a 15-year-old freshman, since December, the criminal complaint said.
“You need a good fingering, you freshman,” Diallo, 16, said before using his finger to sodomize the teen though his shorts, while he held him down, the report said.
On another occasion Berkmans, 17, said to the victim: “Touch my penis for three seconds or I will rape you,” according to the complaint.
Athletic Director Marion Deitrich and two unidentified track coaches were suspended over the incident, Education officials said.
Chancellor Walcott said early Tuesday that the students who were arrested were receiving instruction at another school facility pending disciplinary action.
“We take these allegations seriously and will be looking at the details of the investigation closely,” Walcott said.Books, Bronx Education, Bronx High School of Science, Bronx News, Bronx People, Bronx Science, Crime In The Bronx, Education, Education Department, High School, NYPD, schools, Sports, The Bronx, Wolverines
