Emmanuel Metellus gets tearful greeting from friends. Below, friends and Metellus clan, including Patrick and Aglaye, who came from Bronx to find dad, gather in front of his Port-au-Prince house
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - A Bronx brother and sister hugged their elderly father Monday after making a desperate trek to find him on the devastated streets of Haiti.
Patrick and Aglaye Metellus whooped in joy when they spotted their 81-year-old dad in the quake - shattered Carrefour neighborhood.
“Every building in the city may be collapsed, but as long as he’s still standing, I’m all right,” said Patrick Metellus, 37, who lives in Fordham. “The weight of the world just lifted off my shoulders. I feel like I can breathe.”
Emmanuel (Mano) Metellus ran to his children and hugged them tight after they reunited with the help of a message broadcast on a Haitian radio station.
“I’m very, very happy,” said Emmanuel Metellus. He looked over at his daughter and said, “This is my baby.”
