Christina Cruz is preparing for the 2009 Daily News Golden Gloves with a clear-cut mandate: She wants to stop every opponent she faces.
Knockouts in amateur boxing are not exactly the norm.
But as the top-ranked women in the country at 119 pounds, Cruz is treating the forthcoming Gloves, which start on Jan. 28 at B.B. King’s in Manhattan, as her own showcase.
“I plan to dominate the whole tournament,” said Cruz, winner of the last two Gloves and a personal secretary from Manhattan. “Last year, there were certain fights where I won but I wasn’t able to do the kinds of things that I wanted to do. I feel I can do a lot more now.” Read more..
