Bronx Science had no reason to pitch to Riverdale/Kingsbridge junior shortstop Nelyssa Rosario. Not in the fourth inning. Not with two runners on. Not ahead by four runs.
“She’s just an unbelievable hitter,” Wolverines coach Tom Morris said.
So, Morris called for pitcher Kelly Chewens to intentionally walk Rosario. The sophomore hurler had the right idea on the first pitch, but the second one she threw directly over the plate and Rosario belted a three-run home run.
RKA got within one run on the homer, then took the lead in the fifth, but Bronx Science tied the game up in the sixth and went ahead in the seventh in what was a wild, 14-11 road win against Riverdale/Kingsbridge on Tuesday in PSAL Bronx A softball.

Howard Gomez and South Bronx enter playoffs on high note after rolling past Evander, 44-12 in regular season finale.
South Bronx running back Raymond Norman has always kept his father close to his heart.
Michael Norman lost a battle with colon cancer and died in early July, but Raymond has honored his biggest fan by helping to drive South Bronx to perfection on the football field.
Norman’s three first-half touchdowns on Sunday - two rushing and one receiving - led the Phoenix to a 44-12 victory in their regular season finale over Evander (5-3) at Alfred E. Smith HS. The victory gave South Bronx a 9-0 finish.
South Bronx continued to showcase the reasons for its dominance this season, taking a 28-0 lead into halftime and easily capping the victory to go undefeated for the first time in school history. Read more..
