The South Bronx Phoenix continued their meteoric rise to the top of the PSAL Cup Division last Saturday afternoon. They remain the only undefeated team at 6-0, with an imposing 29-6 victory over formerly unbeaten Far Rockaway (4-1) at Alfred E. Smith HS.
South Bronx’s offense came out firing on all cylinders. Senior RB Raymond Norman scored two touchdowns on the day and QB Rafael Carmona’s 17-yard touchdown pass to WR Luis Sanchez helped the Phoenix build a 29-0 fourth-quarter lead.
Head coach Jose Cosme was also pleased that his defense clamped down on Cup Division leading rusher Gregory Ibe, whose only damage came on a 25-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Read more..
