Bronx teen mugged while walking home from Yonkers supermarket shift
YONKERS - A Bronx teenager was mugged on his way home from working at a Central Park Avenue supermarket, police said today.
The 19-year-old told Yonkers police he was robbed shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday as he walked south on Central Park Avenue after his shift ended at Pathmark. He said he was repeatedly punched in the face, pushed to the ground, and robbed of between $30 and $60 that he had in his pockets.
He said his attacker wore a navy blue hooded sweatshirt that obscured his face, but looked familiar.
“He thinks it might be someone he knows, someone he sees at the bus stop after work,” said Lt. Robert Williams, Yonkers police. “He’s going to have to go down to the detective division to look at the photographs.”
The victim declined medical treatment for his injuries, which included bruising and swelling to the left side of his face.
The robber ran northbound on Central Park Avenue after taking the money.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Yonkers Police Detective Division at 914-377-7725.
