Police Release Bronx Bodega Robbery Surveillance

Police in the Bronx said on Tuesday night that they hope to catch a team of robbers before someone else gets hurt.

Investigators said they hope some surveillance video will lead them to the men who they said have already hit seven stores.

Police said they are becoming more concerned because the robberies are becoming more violent.

Last night’s victim, a married father of two, was shot in the face and was reported to be in very critical condition.

Police released surveillance video of a Sunday evening robbery at a store on St. Ann’s Avenue.

In the surveillance, one of the robbers rushed behind the counter, aimed a gun at a worker, who immediately cowered into the corner as the robber rifled through the cash drawer.

The two men, described by police as Hispanic, can be seen entering the store. When the robbery began, a customer inside tried to flee through the front door but was kept inside by one of the robbers.

Police said the same two men are responsible for a string of armed robberies beginning last Monday. All were at commercial businesses and all were in the Bronx.

Jose Alberto Lora, 24, was their latest victim. Lora was shot twice in the torso and once in the face last night. He is in critical condition.

Police said one robber is described as 5 feet 8 inches with a heavy build, a goatee and wearing a baseball style cap with a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Police said the second robber is 5 feet 10 inches tall with a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information should call the Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
