A popular Pontiac delicatessen will be moving across the street to larger quarters in early February.
The Bronx Deli is taking its business from a small shop on the west side of Telegraph Road to a former Pizza Hut located on the east side. The new address will be 247 S. Telegraph, and the old was 226 S Telegraph, just south of Voorheis.
Owners Marc Zuccato and Len Mazzola said they needed the extra space, inside and out.
“Customers were telling me they had nowhere to park and they’d have to wait for a spot,” said Zuccato. “We were so crowded at lunch, too. We grew so fast in a year.”
The deli — which had seating for 40 — opened to rave reviews in August, 2007. Zuccato, a former Air Force chef, was unhappy that he could not find a good deli in his Novi community, so he and his wife flew to New York City, where they sampled food at 30 delis before coming up with a final plan for the Pontiac store. Zuccato and Mazzola, who has experience working in downriver sub and pizza shops, sought out the area’s best meats from Detroit’s Sy Ginsberg company. Read more..
